Next meet up with Troy! Village Square Tuesday Sept 22 12-1pm
Hi, I’m Troy and I’m hoping to be re-elected for Cumberland council. I have been a resident of Cumberland since 2013, when I moved here to start a family. I am a local business owner (I run Learn Comox Valley, which offers math and science tutoring to students in the Comox Valley) and I also teach skiing on Mount Washington in winter. You may have seen me around town volunteering with the CCSS, CCFS (or anyone who needs a hand, really), riding my bike, playing disc golf or having a beer.
Prior to serving on council, I spent some time serving on the Village of Cumberland's Advisory Planning Commission. Then in 2022, I decided I wanted to do more to serve my community and was honored to be elected to Council. In those four years, I have worked hard to try and keep Cumberland the warm and welcoming village we fell in love with.
I see myself as a long-term thinker with a careful eye on making sure the village remains financially stable as we grow. The work we’ve done on our new Official Community Plan will set us up well for the future, I believe, but there is always more work to be done, especially in terms of major infrastructure projects, affordable housing development, industrial land development and improving our active transportation links.
I will continue to approach each decision through the lens of equity, fairness, while balancing current needs and long-term fiscal stability. I would greatly appreciate your support.
